Configure Ambassador Patricia Cortés and the Presidential Counsellor Emilio Archila presented the progress of the peace with legality policy before the Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs of Ireland

Dublin (Jun. 1/21). The Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs of Ireland invited Ambassador Patricia Cortés and Presidential Counsellor for Stabilization and Consolidation Emilio Archila to discuss the implementation of the 2016 Peace Agreement within the framework of the Peace with Legality Policy.

The Ambassador highlighted the important ties that unite Colombia and Ireland, which have been strengthened since the reciprocal opening of the diplomatic missions in Dublin and Bogotá. He stressed that Colombia works to maximize business opportunities that will generate an economic reactivation after COVID and that there are important cooperation initiatives in education, science and agriculture. Likewise, the Ambassador thanked the Irish government for its public demonstrations in support of the implementation of the Agreement and its contribution through cooperation and peace funds from the United Nations and the European Union.

Councilor Archila restated the commitment of the Government of Colombia to implementing the Agreement. He also thanked Ireland for its support through cooperation, its role as a non-permanent member at the UN Security Council, and the valuable experience of the EU Special Envoy for Peace, Eamon Gilmore.
