The economic and commercial relations between Colombia and Ireland are governed for the Commercial Agreement between Colombia and European Union in forced since 1 August 2013.

Investment Promotion in both countries.

  • Cooperation between ProColombia and IDA Ireland: In 17 and 18 of May 2018, a ProColombia visit to Dublin was carried out, focused on learning about Ireland´s ability to attract foreign direct investment. In the last decades, Ireland has maintained a successful interinstitutional model for attracting Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) based on joint and coordinated effort of the mains actors of government, academia and the private sector. This visit was the result of a commitment to share experiences during the visit of President Michael D. Higgins to Colombia.
  • June 2019, Dublin. Colombian Investment Promotion. The Bogota Promotion Agency of Colombia – Invest in Bogota with the support of the Colombian Embassy and Procolombia visited Ireland for meetings with key Irish companies of interest to Colombia and investment promotion entities such as IDA, Enterprise Ireland.
  • September 15, 2019 in Dublin. Business breakfast chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Holmes Trujillo accompanied by the Colombian ambassador and the executive director of Procolombia for Ireland and the UK. CEO’s and representatives of Irish companies with interest in Colombia such as Smurfit Kappa, Viva Air, Fyffs, Mainstream Renewable Power, Santos Dummont, Rubicon Capital, Kerry Group, Siepam, among others, attended.
  • September 24, 25, 2019. Investment Promotion Event  in collaboration with Procolombia and participation of the regional Investment Promotion agencies of Barranquilla, Armenia and Pereira. More than 10 Irish companies attended in the real estate, hotel development, agribusiness and sustainable energy sectors. In this meeting and with the support of the National Federation of Coffee Growers a coffee tasting was carried out to promote it as an export product. Similarly, Ireland shared its experience in attracting investment with meetings with IDA and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
