Dublin (October 15/2021). Colombia participated in the tenth edition of the ISLA Festival organized by the Cervantes Institute in Dublin through the virtual conversation 'Talking Walls: Chiribiquete' presented by author and scientific journalist Ángela Posada-Swafford.

With the support of the Embassy in Ireland and within the framework of the Plan for the Promotion of Colombia Abroad, the Colombian author spoke with journalist Olive Heffernan about the Chiribiquete Natural Park from the perspective of science, conservation and art.

In her talk, Ángela highlighted the enormous biodiversity of Colombia and the great responsibility that entails its conservation. Chiribiquete Park is located south of the Colombian Amazon and contains the oldest rock formations on the planet. The Park is the largest extension of protected tropical forest globally and its name means "hill where it is drawn" in the Karijuna language.

En el marco del Plan de Promoción de Colombia en el exterior, el país estuvo presente en la décima edición del Festival ISLA organizado por el Instituto Cervantes de Dublín, mediante la charla virtual “Cuando las paredes hablan: Chiribiquete” presentada por la autora y periodista científica Ángela Posada-Swafford.

Con apoyo de la Embajada en Irlanda, la autora colombiana conversó con la periodista Olive Heffernan acerca del Parque Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete desde la perspectiva de la ciencia, la conservación y el arte. En su charla, Ángela Posada resaltó la enorme biodiversidad de Colombia y la gran responsabilidad que significa su conservación.

El Parque de Chiribiquete contiene las formaciones rocosas más antiguas del planeta; es la mayor extensión de selva tropical protegida en el mundo y su nombre significa “cerro donde se dibuja” en lengua karijuna.

Within the Plan to Promote Colombia Abroad, the Embassy of Colombia in Ireland in collaboration with the Dublin City Council, presented the outdoor installation UNIBIRDS to showcase Colombia’s biodiversity which screened on the façade of the Palace Street Building to communicate the message of preserving the natural wealth in times of climate change.

UNIBIRDS by MA + CH Studio is a visual revelation of our environment, a connection of nature and human fantasy through birds. The result of a collaboration with the Von Humboldt Institute repository of birds in Colombia, they present birds as messengers of new habits, values and current challenges to the environment. The installation took inspiration in field recordings combined with generated images allowing to create a sensory experience of high impact.

Dublín (noviembre 6/2021).  La Embajada de Colombia en Irlanda, en el marco  del Plan de Promoción de Colombia en el exterior y con apoyo de la Alcaldía de Dublín presentaron la instalación UNIBIRDS en la fachada del Palace Street Building en el centro de la capital de Irlanda, para mostrar la biodiversidad de Colombia y transmitir un mensaje sobre la necesidad de conservar la riqueza natural en tiempos de cambio climático.

UNIBIRDS es una revelación visual del entorno colombiano, una conexión de la naturaleza y la fantasía humana a través de las aves. Fruto de una colaboración con el repositorio de aves del Instituto Von Humboldt, la obra presenta a las aves como mensajeras de nuevos hábitos, valores y desafíos actuales para el medio ambiente. La instalación se inspira en grabaciones de campo combinadas con imágenes generadas que permiten crear una experiencia sensorial de alto impacto.

Dublín, 5 de noviembre de 2021.  Gracias a la gestión de la Vicepresidente y Canciller Marta Lucía Ramírez, y de la Embajada de Colombia en Dublín, el gobierno de Irlanda ha decidido incluir a Colombia en el Programa de Exención de Visas para Cortas Estadías o Short Stay Visa Waiver Programme.

El programa permite a los colombianos que hayan entrado al Reino Unido con visas de estancia corta, viajar a Irlanda sin el requisito una visa irlandesa.

¿Quiénes son elegibles?

 

Dublín, 21 de octubre de 2021. Como parte del Plan de Promoción de Colombia en el Exterior, la Embajada de Colombia en Irlanda inició la presentación de la serie Colombia Bio, en colaboración con el UCD Earth Institute y la UCD Biological Society. El evento de inauguración tuvo lugar el 21 de octubre e incluyó la participación del biólogo y guía de avistamiento de aves Diego Calderón Franco, en conversación con el experto en ornitología el Dr. Adam Kane, de la Escuela de Biología y Estudios Medioambientales de UCD.

La conversación giró en torno al avistamiento de aves y la realización de documentales como vehículo para la divulgación científica y promoción de la protección medioambiental. Diego Calderón habló de su breve experiencia en el programa UREKA de UCD y de su actual acercamiento a la biología, alternando el trabajo como guía de avistamiento de aves y la participación en las expediciones “Alas, cantos y colores” de Colombia Bio.

 

Dublin (Oct 21/2021) As part of the Plan to Promote Colombia Abroad, the Embassy will present a selection of films from the documentary series Colombia Bio, in collaboration with the UCD Earth Institute and the UCD Biological Society. The opening event took place on 21st October and included the participation of Colombian biologist and birding guide Diego Calderón in conversation with ornithology expert Dr. Adam Kane, from the School of Biology and Environmental Studies in UCD.

The animated conversation revolved around birding and documentary filming as a great vehicle to communicate science and environmental protection. Diego Calderón spoke of his brief experience in the UREKA programme at UCD and his current approach to biology, alternating scientific expeditions such as the current Colombia Bio Wings, songs and colours with birdwatching guided tours.

 

• The Colombian Embassy in Dublin and Education in Ireland organized a virtual event in which 28 universities from Colombia and Ireland have presented proposals for exchange agreements, double degrees, joint research, and language learning.

Dublin - November 3, 2021.  The Colombian Embassy and Education in Ireland organized a virtual forum today, bringing together 28 Irish and Colombian education institutions aiming to facilitate agreements on mobility, joint research and the promotion of language learning (English and Spanish as Foreign Language, respectively).

The Irish-Colombian Higher Education Forum is the first meeting of its kind and is expected to boost the collaboration between eleven Irish and seventeen Colombian universities.

Dublin (October 10/2021). The Colombian Embassy in Dublin celebrated the national day of the Colombian migrant with a coffee morning. More than 100 people enjoyed Colombian coffee and pastries with the support of Together for Hospice and Bewley’s, the largest importer of Colombian coffee in Ireland.

Members of the diplomatic corps, the academia, the industry, and the Colombian community in Ireland, enjoyed Colombian products while supporting the Mildford Care Center in Limerick.
