Primera reunión del Mecanismo de Consultas Políticas, Dublin 16 de septiembre de 2019.
- Se llevó a cabo en el marco de la visita oficial a Irlanda del Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Carlos Holmes Trujillo. La delegación nacional estuvo integrada además por la Embajadora de Colombia en Irlanda, Patricia Cortes, el director ejecutivo de ProColombia para Irlanda y el Reino Unido, José Puyana y el director de Agrosavia, Jorge Mario Diaz. Por parte de Irlanda, participaron el Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores Simon Coveney y el Secretario General Niall Burgess, acompañados de la Embajadora de Irlanda en Colombia, Alison Milton, el director de America, Brian Glynn y la directora de Asuntos Políticos, Sonia Hyland.
- Se destacó el excelente estado de la relación bilateral y se revisaron temas de la agenda económica, en particular, inversión, comercio y turismo; de cooperación en temas como agricultura, innovación y educación y, lecciones aprendidas en temas de implementación de acuerdos de paz.
- En materia multilateral y regional, se abordó la crisis en Venezuela y el impacto para Colombia, la región y a nivel global. Se mencionó la propuesta de Colombia de una Corte en la Lucha contra la Corrupción y, el “Pacto por el Amazonas” iniciativa regional que ha tenido el liderazgo de Colombia.
- En el marco de estas consultas se suscribió el MOU para empleo de los dependientes de los funcionarios de las embajadas en el Estado de la Otra Parte.

- The meeting took place during the official visit to Ireland by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Carlos Holmes Trujillo. The Colombian delegation also included the Colombian Ambassador to Ireland, Patricia Cortes; the Executive Director of Procolombia for Ireland and the United Kingdom, Jose Puyana; and the Director of Agrosavia, Jorge Mario Diaz. On the Irish side, the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Simon Coveney, and the Secretary General, Niall Burgess, took part, accompanied by the Irish Ambassador to Colombia, Alison Milton, the Director for the Americas, Brian Glynn, and the Director of Political Affairs, Sonia Hyland.
- The excellent state of bilateral relations was highlighted, and issues on the economic agenda were reviewed, in particular investment, trade and tourism; cooperation on issues such as agriculture, innovation and education; and lessons learnt regarding the implementation of peace agreements.
- On multilateral and regional matters, the crisis in Venezuela and its impact on Colombia, the region and globally were addressed. Mention was made of Colombia’s proposal for a Court in the Fight against Corruption and the “Pact for the Amazon”, a regional initiative led by Colombia.
- Within the framework of these consultations, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed regarding the employment of dependants of embassy staff in the other party’s territory.

Colombia e Irlanda celebraron con éxito su II Mecanismo de Consultas Políticas en Dublín, Irlanda, los días 10 y 11 de octubre de 2023. El mecanismo contó con la participación del Viceministro de Relaciones Exteriores de Colombia, Embajador Francisco Coy Granados. La Parte irlandesa estuvo liderada por Ruairí De Búrca, Director General de Irlanda, Reino Unido y las Américas en el Departamento de Asuntos Exteriores, Brian Flynn, Subdirector Político, y Ciara O'Floinn, Directora de América Latina y el Caribe. Los temas discutidos incluyeron prioridades para Colombia, como facilitación del visado para colombianos, cooperación en desarrollo, educación, innovación, cultura y asuntos policiales.

Colombia and Ireland successfully held their second Political Consultations Mechanism in Dublin, Ireland, on 10–11 October 2023. The meeting was attended by Colombia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Francisco Coy Granados. The Irish delegation was led by Ruairí De Búrca, Director General for Ireland, the United Kingdom and the Americas at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Brian Flynn, Deputy Director of Political Affairs, and Ciara O’Floinn, Director for Latin America and the Caribbean. The topics discussed included priorities for Colombia, such as visa facilitation for Colombians, development cooperation, education, innovation, culture and police matters.
Tercera reunión del Mecanismo de Consultas Políticas, Bogotá, 29 de mayo de 2025.
El Tercer Mecanismo de Consultas Políticas se realizó en Bogotá, el 29 de Mayo de 2025, liderado por la Viceministra de Relaciones Exteriores, Yolanda Villavicencio y Sonja Hyland, Secretaria General Adjunta del Departamento de Asuntos Exteriores de Irlanda. Se abordaron temas relevantes en la agenda bilateral, en particular, la Paz Total, la transición energética justa, la migración con enfoque en derechos humanos, el fortalecimiento de la cooperación en seguridad humana, y el apoyo a la Política Exterior Feminista. En materia de paz, las Altas Funcionarias coincidieron en la importancia de avanzar en una estrategia basada en la transformación territorial, el diálogo con actores armados y la implementación del Acuerdo de Paz de 2016. En transición energética, reafirmaron su compromiso con el Acuerdo de París y la meta de carbono neutralidad al 2050. En migración, Irlanda reconoció el enfoque integral de Colombia como referente en acogida e integración. En cooperación, se acordó avanzar en mecanismos de intercambio de información policial. En Política Exterior Feminista, se resaltó la promoción de la igualdad de género y la no discriminación en los escenarios internacionales.
Third Meeting of the Political Consultation Mechanism, Bogotá, 29 May 2025
The Third Political Consultations Mechanism took place in Bogotá on 29 May 2025, led by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Yolanda Villavicencio, and Sonja Hyland, Deputy Secretary General of the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs. Relevant issues on the bilateral agenda were addressed, in particular Total Peace, a just energy transition, migration with a focus on human rights, strengthening cooperation on human security, and support for Feminist Foreign Policy. On the subject of peace, the senior officials agreed on the importance of advancing a strategy based on territorial transformation, dialogue with armed groups, and the implementation of the 2016 Peace Agreement. On energy transition, they reaffirmed their commitment to the Paris Agreement and the goal of carbon neutrality by 2050. On migration, Ireland recognised Colombia’s comprehensive approach as a benchmark for reception and integration. On cooperation, it was agreed to advance mechanisms for the exchange of police information. On Feminist Foreign Policy, the promotion of gender equality and non-discrimination in international forums was highlighted.
