Colombia promotes equal rights for 4,328 women ex-combatants committed to legality

As an opportunity to vindicate equal rights for women who laid down their arms, the Agency for Reintegration and Normalization – ARN currently provides permanent nationwide social and economic support to 4,328 female ex-combatants in processes of reincorporation (3,272) and reintegration (1,056). “During the last 18 years, the ARN has been implementing actions aimed at eliminating the stigmatization of women, reducing barriers, contributing to their autonomy, promoting their active participation in all processes of reincorporation and reintegration policies, and identifying specific needs to develop comprehensive strategies that contribute to the advancement of rights and the closing of gender gaps, seeking to improve their own quality of life and that of their families", assured Andrés Stapper ARN Director General. The Colombian government continues its commitment with the Peace with Legality policy, through the Social and Economic Reincorporation Route, a framework to guide security programmes, economic and social stability for the more than 13,000 former FARC members in the reincorporation process.

The Resident Embassies of the Pacific Alliance in Ireland celebrate its 10th Anniversary in collaboration with the IIEA

The Resident Embassies of the Pacific Alliance in Dublin: Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru, will celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the regional integration mechanism in collaboration with the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA). The Pacific Alliance is an initiative created to promote further growth, development, and competitiveness of the economies of these Latin American countries which border on the Pacific Ocean. The event entitled The Pacific Alliance: 10 years of successful regional integration in Latin America will be held on 27th April at 1pm. It will include the participation of the Director-General, Americas Division at the European External Action Service, Brian Glynn, and the Resident Ambassadors of Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Chile in Ireland who will highlight the nature of the Pacific Alliance and the role of its Observer States; as well as the opportunities to foster economic integration; the impact of the Pacific Alliance on its citizens; and the advantages of further economic connections between Ireland, the EU and the Pacific Alliance countries.
