The Embassy in Dublin organizes the first meeting of the Ireland-Colombia Alumni Network I-CAN

Dublin (October 13/2021). At the initiative of the Colombian Embassy in Ireland, and with the support of the Irish Embassy in Bogotá, the members of the Colombia-Ireland Alumni Network (I-CAN) met for the first time through videoconference. The network comprises alumni of undergraduate and postgraduate programs from Irish Universities and aims to facilitate academic and professional cooperation.

In her welcoming remarks, Ambassador Patricia Cortés highlighted that the idea of establishing a network of graduates between both countries is a concrete result from the Mission for Internationalization, and the recommendation of the Growth Lab of Harvard University; as part of his research and report on the internationalization of the Colombian economy. The University report recognizes the potential of Colombia to better integrate into the global economy and highlights the need to continue working on issues such as innovation, knowledge transfer, and technology, issues to which the Colombian diaspora abroad has much to contribute.

The Embassy invites all Colombian graduates from Irish universities (undergraduate or graduate programs) to contact the Embassy at eirlanda@cancilleria.gov.co to participate at the next meetings.
