President Petro shared Colombia's new holistic approach to face consumption and trafficking of drugs with US President, Joe Biden
President Petro and President Biden met at the end of April to advance bilateral cooperation on issues of common interest such as climate change, clean energy transition, migration, fight against drug trafficking and peace. They discussed theunavoidable commitment required to face the climate crisis, and agreed to work in an ambitious and productive UN Climate Change Conference (COP28); and in other international scenarios to achieve tangible results. TheUS is the largest international contributor to climate action in Colombiawith a budget of US$87 millions for the last two years and a proposal to Congress of US$45 for 2024. President Biden applauded President Petro's pledge to protect the Amazon and the extraordinary goal set by Colombia to reach zero deforestation by 2030. Both Presidents agreed on a new holistic approach in fighting the consumption and trafficking of illegal substances which have had devastating effects for people in Colombia and the US in regards to health, security, biodiversity, economy, among others.Read more.
Conference for the Political Process in Venezuela
Colombia hosted the International Conference for the Political Process in Venezuela on 25th April, in which President Petro called for America to be a democratic space for Venezuelan people to decide their future freely.

'Beca Colombia' for foreign students
ICETEX has opened their call for 'Beca Colombia 2023' aimed at foreign students who wish to pursue postgraduate studies in specialization, master’s, and PhD in Colombian higher education institutions; but also to foreign students from non-Spanish speaking countries who wish to carry out postgraduate studies in the country but require to strengthen their Spanish language skills. The appeal of Colombia's nomad visa
The digital nomad visa will grant remote workers permission to stay for up to two years. Colombia has recently joined other countries around the world in offering this kind of visa, but has made it more affordable than similar schemes in the region and globally.
